The 2006 Northeast Tionól was held on Columbus Day Weekend, October 6-9, at the Fern Cliff House in East Durham, New York. Our special guests from Ireland, Tommy Keane and Marion McCarthy, provided instruction and spellbinding performances on the pipes. We were also joined by Rhode Island piper Patrick Hutchinson, Co. Tipperary piper Michael Cooney and Patrick D'Arcy. Vermont piper and pipemaker Benedict Koehler served as our resident reedmaker. Patrick Ourceau and Kevin Crehan were our fiddle instructors this year, and Mike McHale gave a special workshop on the flute.

Fund Raiser Success!

The tionol fundraising concert in Voorheesville, NY., on June 17th was a great success.We raised more than $700, which will be used to help offset plane flights of our guest musicians. Many thanks to all those involved, but especially to Hilary Schrauf and Kara Doyle, who organized and successfully brought off the concert, and to the generous musicians, Benedict Koehler, Hilari Farrington, and Willie & Siobhan Kelly. Volunteers included Colleen O'Sullivan, Mary Ann Morrison, Lynda & Bob Knighton, Joyce & Steve Schreiber (thanks so much for the wonderful feast and after-concert session!), and Eric Everson.
