Scholarships

Thanks to the generosity of donors, the Northeast Tionól offers three types of scholarship (two for pipers, one for fiddlers) that will cover a student’s tuition for the weekend and pay $200 toward the student’s room and board.

The scholarship application period for the 2024 Northeast Tionól will open in July, 2024.

Bill Ochs Memorial Piping Scholarships

  1. Scholarship for young pipers

To be eligible for consideration, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be under 25 years old.
  • You must own or have use of, at minimum, a working practice set of uilleann pipes.
  • You must have been playing for at least six months.
  • You must submit the application form, including the name and contact information of a person who can serve as a reference for you, by August 31, 2023.
  1. Scholarship for female pipers

Open to all female pipers, regardless of age or experience, to be awarded based on enthusiasm for piping and other factors at the discretion of the awards committee. To be eligible for consideration, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must own or have use of, at minimum, a working practice set of uilleann pipes.
  • You must submit the application form, including the name and contact information of a person who can serve as a reference for you, by August 31, 2023.

Fiddle Scholarship

Scholarship for young fiddlers

To be eligible for consideration, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be under 25 years old.
  • You must have been playing violin or fiddle for at least two years.
  • You must submit the application form, including the contact information for a person who can testify to your enthusiasm for Irish music and learning the fiddle, by August 31, 2022.
